Zafooz

Being the Mom of three boys now it’s necessary for me to take time for myself to breathe and recenter. But I’ve never stopped to think of how my older children may be needing the same thing. With the new household dynamic with the twins here it can be stressful on my three year old to share attention and constantly hear crying.. So I realized I needed to get something for my sweet boy that’ll allow him to also have some meditation time for himself.

That’s when I found Zafooz. It’s a spirit animal cushion that helps children focus on mindfulness and meditation.. I feel it’s as important for them to have time to slow down and just be within themselves as it is for us.

20190620_163222.jpg

Since the twins were born Hudson has had his Lotus Ladybug with him everywhere throughout the house. He takes it outside when the sun is getting low and back up to bed with him when it’s time to unwind.. There are a few different stuffed animal friends to choose from and each one has their own description and children’s emotional/spiritual needs. It’s fantastic!

Ladybug_web.jpg

Along with the cushion, Zafooz has guided meditations on the their website to help your children ease into their relaxation mode. It’s been such a wonderful, peaceful friend for Hudson and I’m very thankful we found it! Because again, I feel it’s just as important for them to have self time and these cushion allow them a comfortable, safe space to do so.

Right now, you can save 15% on your zafooz.com/shop purchase by using the promo code breatheBhappy. Valid until July 22, 2019.

KidSpace A Children’s Exploration Center

Y’all know I love to do local places – This is one I really love to take Hudson to! It’s fun, educational AND health conscious so wanted to share them with y’all incase you’re looking for some fun places to hit up during these cold Colorado winters!

You walk in and it just screams interstellar.. There are themed sections everywhere! You see scientific experiment games based on Archimedes’ work, a launch lab where kids can use different levels of strength to get a rocket ship to different planets, a ballistics zone where kids can run, play, climb and use air launchers to shoot balls – And SO much more!!

Wherever you look there’s STEM play and that’s an amazing feeling as a parent to have the opportunity to have your kids learn as they play! I believe STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) is so crucial for children, especially at a young age as it allows their minds to bend and flex in ways they wouldn’t be able to ordinarily.

They have hourly planetarium shows in an amazing blow up igloo which is so fun for the kids!

Something all parents can appreciate is the extreme cleanliness of the entire facility – I never feel as though I’ve got to give Hudson a bath after he leaves! Another parent pleaser is the amazing full espresso bar with delicious coffees and healthy snacks!

The owners are so friendly and passionate about their creation and they should be. You can easily spend hours here.. So if you’re looking for a fun, indoor place to take your stir crazy kiddos – Bring them here!! You won’t be disappointed and they’ll be begging you to come back!

Dinosaur Birthday Party

Like a ton of other little kids his age Hudson is obsessed with dinosaurs. So it was a definite theme for his 3rd birthday! We decided to do it at the WOW! Children’s Museum in Lafayette, CO – It’s small enough where we won’t be overwhelmed but the kids can still have tons to do and it’s large enough for us to hold all of our close friends and family. 🙂

Their prices were great for a 2 hour session (This was my first time doing an “outside of the house” party so I was excited it was affordable 😉 ) and they helped so much with the set up! Y’all know how thrifty I am so I decided to ask around my local Facebook Mom groups and found ALL of my dinosaur decorations for FREE. I was pretty proud considering it turned out looking uh-mazing!

The room was large enough for 20 people with space to spare and there TONS of tables for food, gifts, cake, etc.

Sprouts Farmers Market has the best catering platters!!! I grabbed 6: A veggie tray, a fruit tray, a sandwich tray, a dessert tray and a breakfast tray. They were all amazing, affordable for how much you got and they were a HIT. Anyone with any kind of food restrictions had plenty to eat which is obviously important to us as paleo eaters!

One of my favorite parts of this party planning was getting him a custom cake made by a local baker.. She does some AMAZING work and I’m SO happy I trusted her to make his cake! She made Hudson an AWESOME dinosaur cake and he LOVED it (Then she made this preggo Mama an INCREDIBLE carrot cake and omg it was gone in minutes haha!)

Hudson’s looking at this picture right now and really wants it.. haha!

Her bakery is located in Broomfield, CO and has the CUTEST name! The Book Tree Bakery! Contact her if you’re ever looking for any baked goods – You’ll be amazed ❥

At the end of the party we passed out little goody bags with different dinosaurs printed on them and each kid/adult got their own healthy snacks to take home – And my favorites, of course! SunRype Fruit Strips and Made in Nature snacks!

Everyone had such a blast and most importantly so did my little three year old! Highly recommend ALL of these places and goodies to anyone hosting a birthday party in the Colorado area! (Or anywhere else 😉 )

Good Samaritan Medical Center

It’s a pretty tough decision choosing the right hospital for your labor delivery. If you ask another parent they’ll all give you hundreds of different suggestions.

When I was pregnant with Hudson in 2015 I decided I wanted it to be solely my decision based on what I believed was most important for my son and myself.

After doing a lot of research I decided Good Samaritan seemed like the best fit because it was designated Colorado’s first Baby-Friendly Hospital by UNICEF. They were very pro-breastfeeding which was something I’ve always been so passionate about due to the plethora of health benefits it provides your baby.

GSMC Exterior_Night.jpg

I did a hospital tour after making my decision to ensure it was in an area I felt safe and would feel proud to have my family come to to meet my gorgeous baby boy.

Upon arriving my Husband and I were in awe. It was absolutely beautiful – Tucked in the town of Lafayette there were mountain views, modern touches, delicious food/drink shops and the classes they had consistently running were such an amazing perk. We decided then and there this was the hospital for us.

On November 22nd I began having my contractions and we were off to Good Samaritan! It was such an exciting ride. Once we arrived we were pleasantly greeted and placed into a beautiful, comfortable room waiting for our little Hudson to grace us with his presence. After 10 hours he was ready. This was my first baby so I was terrified of labor but the nurses were absolutely incredible and my Doctor was so helpful that it made the whole experience a lot less stressful!

Delivery-Room.jpg

Once Hudson was born the caregivers were there every step of the way! A lactation specialist came in and assisted in teaching me how to get him to latch and came in every few hours to ensure it was still going well. I had a free post-labor massage which was AMAZING and we had some delicious food!!

We stayed for a few days then when we were getting ready to head home were given a humungous bag of food so we didn’t have to worry about cooking for a few days! We were also scheduled a nurse to come to our house a week after taking him house to make sure Hudson was healthy, I was healthy and that breastfeeding was still going well. I love how breastfeeding focused they were!

We still talk about the wonderful experience we had at Good Samaritan and plan on using them for our next baby’s delivery as well! Highly recommend them to anyone looking for a comfortable, breastfeeding encouraging hospital in the Denver area!

Chipolo – Bluetooth Tracker

As a Mom I feel like I constantly lose EVERYTHING. I’m always in a hurry and always doing something so I lose track of my keys, Hudson’s toys, his blanket and my phone. I decided enough was enough and got myself a Chipolo Bluetooth Tracker! You attach it to anything you don’t want to lose, download the app and click Ring To Find and it’ll sound loudly to alert you to it’s location! **You can also double click the finder and it rings your phone on loud, even if it’s on silent!Screenshot_20180220-122726.jpgIt’s little, discreet and cute! I’ve already tried it on Hudson’s toys and blanket and it worked amazing! He loved hunting to find his stuff, it became a little game 😉pexels-photo.jpgBut after awhile realized it was most helpful on my keys since I lose them the most! So they’re permanently on my keychain and have already come in handy TWICE in one week. *facepalm*Screen Shot 2018-02-20 at 12.12.15 PMI highly recommend it to any Parent or anyone who is forgetful like me :p They also have Chipolo Card which is a super convenient wallet/purse finder! I may need to get that as well because I ALSO misplace my purse often 😛 Use their code STOPLOSING10 for 10% off your order!

We had some drinks, a giant delicious turkey leg and shared a ton of laughs (With all the teenagers getting scared by the clown/killer lumberjack guys walking around) and a ton of screams!

We’ll absolutely be back twice a year from now on. Once for the kids and another time for just us – We felt so very connected! Thanks Elitches!!

Texas Vacation & Roadtrip

Oh Texas.. How I already miss you so!

For my birthday we took an amazing 5 day road trip to Texas to visit my family and have some us time 🙂 It was incredible and I already miss it so very, very much!

As stated in my previous post I had packed way early to avoid any stress and it made it soo much easier the morning we left (Husband finally admitted it was a good idea ;)) We packed everything up and were on the road by 6AM! Brent and I do so wonderful on road trips, it’s a wonderful time for us to crack jokes, play car games and just bond. ♥

It’s around a 13 hour drive so it was really nice to have some new special things for Hudson! Before we took our trip I bought some brand new snacks he hadn’t had before and toys he’d never played with from the Dollar Store and it kept him busy for many hours of the trip! (Thank goodness!) We also had just gotten a new backseat organizer and carseat tray by DMoose for him! He loved the tray for playing cars on and was able to watch his favorite new movie Rock Dog on his tablet with the backseat organizer’s tablet slot! Made it so much easier on us :).

After a long drive we finally made it to our incredible cottage we were staying in! We used Airbnb which we love for their customer service – I found a little cottage in Crowley, TX that was only $85 a night! And it had two rooms so we didn’t have to worry about sharing a hotel room with Hudson and having to be super duper quiet so it made it SO much easier having a whole house to ourselves!

The owners were lovely people.. I miss them already.. We got all settled in, put Hudson down to sleep and enjoyed the owner’s famous chocolate chip banana bread before turning in for the night in the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in ♥

20171019_075758.jpg

In the morning we already had plans to spend the whole day with my Dad ♥ He came over and was so impressed with the gorgeous land we were staying on! (Sure made us feel good!) After some good breakfast we made the drive over to Dallas to visit the Dallas Zoo I used to LOVE as a child and was so excited to share with my son!!

It’s more beautiful than I remember! There was so much to see, so much to do and there was almost no one there because it was a Thursday morning! (Didn’t get many photos there because I just wanted to enjoy the time with all my guys :))

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

After a few hours at the zoo Hudson started getting super sleepy (SO many kids activities there, helps to wear them out ;)) so we drove around while he napped in the car then hit a delicious Cuban restaurant (I cannot go to Texas without getting cuban food. It’s not the same in Colorado. I LOVE Cubano Sandwiches ♥)

Afterward we headed to the Dallas Cowboys Stadium!! GO COWBOYS! It was SO much fun! Brent wanted to bring a Football so he could throw it around on the field and we’re so glad he did cause it was a hit with Hudson too!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Think the stadium made a fan out of my Husband whose usually a Saints fan but it’s such a gorgeous stadium and him getting to throw some pretty impressive passes into the end zone made him gitty!! ♥

Hudson was POOPED. So after a long tour of the rest of the stadium we headed back to our gorgeous cottage and took it easy.

20171021_080446.jpg

Once Hudson went down for bed my Dad watched him as Brent and I set out for my FAVORITE childhood memory in Dallas! Medieval Times!! I’d been telling him about it for years and we finally had a chance to check it out!

20171019_190153.jpg

I forgot how beautiful it was! The Spanish style castle was so impressive and Brent got more and more excited as we walked up! Once inside the staff was so friendly and really got into character! We got our photo taken in our red and yellow knight crowns and grabbed some delicious drinks before heading to our seats!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Once the show began, Brent started to get what it was all about. You really get into it and root for your knight! We screamed and cheered every time he came out! Our server Noah was amazing and was SO cheerful and really played the part, especially with our food saying our potatoes were “dragon hooves”, etc. It was a blast. **And it came with a HUGE meal!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The show was glorious, the food and service was fantastic and the experience was incredibly special. It’s something my Husband wouldn’t usually do but he really enjoyed it and got into it and it’s still a conversation of how much fun we had together! It’s wonderful for kids, birthdays, date nights, whatever! SO happy we went and I know we’ll be back again! They have a ton of locations so check it out if going on vacation or if you have one in your town! Check Here!

The next day my Dad had to work so we had just us 3 time. We started with some coffee and breakfast in our comfy cottage then headed to surprise my Grandparents with a visit! They were so happy to see us and especially their Great Grandson! (Wish I’d gotten a photo :'() Then went to see longtime friend of mine with her new adorable baby boy!

My Husband seemed drained and wanted to head back but I didn’t want to waste a minute of our trip! He perked up really quick when I showed him another favorite memory of mine, the Fort Worth Water Gardens!!

20171020_135051.jpg

It was so beautiful and Hudson LOVED to watch all of the trickling water!

20171022_104739.jpg

I decided I wanted to walk to Sundance Square in Fort Worth for their other water feature but we found ourselves at Riscky’s BBQ for some drinks!

20171020_142941.jpg

We ended up being RIGHT next to a parade that included the TCU band! Hudson was in AWE, especially with all of the ladies that were in the parade 😉

20171020_143511.jpg

After our drinks and parade fun we headed to the Sundance Square water fountains! Hudson had a total blast playing in them!

22548689_1390783694352568_1081835918352841477_o.jpg

We were all exhausted so headed home (Felt like home ♥) and took it easy the rest of the night (Brent thanked me for taking us around instead of heading home early)

The next morning we woke up and met Dad for some breakfast! Shortly after we began to get ready for a special vow renewal I had planned for my Hubby and I. It was our 2 year vow renewal and although I know 2 years isn’t usual I wanted to do something special for him to show him how much I truly love him still.

The couple who owned the land we were staying on were so excited for the idea to have our very, very small ceremony on their gorgeous land and they offered to officiate it for us!!

FB_IMG_1508625996470

His words were wise, sweet and something we’ll never forget. He personalized it for us and had some gorgeous things to add from experience from his loving 55 year marriage. This bonded us to the owners forever. We feel a little empty now that we’re away from them as this was such a special and intimate experience.

Brent and I feel closer than ever now and we have Joe and Joyce to thank for that. My Dad wasn’t able to make it to our small wedding in February 2016 so it was so special for him to be a part of this as our only guest

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Hudson enjoyed chasing the ducks around the pond during our ceremony hahaha!

IMG_2919

After settling down after our gorgeous ceremony we decided to change and head to the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. It was as beautiful as I had remembered!! Hudson loved to run around and look at all the koi in the ponds 🙂 I loved experiencing this with him.

IMG_42261

We ventured back to the cottage to relax before our long drive the next day back to Colorado.

The next morning was a very sad one. We felt so at home at the cottage and didn’t want to leave. We love Texas, we love Joe and Joyce and loved the together time we were able to spend (We rarely looked at screens the whole trip!)

Hudson loves planes so I found a nearby restaurant at an airport and it was DELICIOUS! The Beacon Cafe had a breakfast buffet that was to die for and Hudson loved being SO close to all of the planes they had on the runway!

This was an amazing trip that I still think about, constantly. I miss the Southern hospitality, food and family. It’s a whole other world down there and if I had a chance would move there in an instant. Miss you, Texas.. Thank you for all of the adventures, experiences, new friendships and family time you gave.
